Conversations about women's wellbeing

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Wendy Suzuki, a professor of neural science and psychology at NYU who studies - among other things - how exercise effects learning, memory and cognition.

We always hear about how physical activity is great for your body and can even improve mood.  With Wendy’s research showing that physical activity actually changes the brain and makes you “smarter,” however, the arguments for moving more have mounted to the point that they’re impossible to ignore!

This article in today’s New York Times shows that scientists all over the world are coming to conclusions, similar to Wendy’s. University of Copenhagen researchers recently found that physical exercise can help the brain consolidate and store not only information, but also physical or motor memories.  So if you want to remember exactly how to recreate a strum on your guitar or a move of a video game controller - you should do some jumping jacks or go for a run right afterwards.

Amazing!  Let’s all get out there and try to move more!  And if you have a story about how increasing your physical activity has helped you on a personal level - please share!
